Fred L. McNamara
Fred L. McNamara, of Red Bank, Tennessee, died on March 24, 2025, at Solomon’s House.
He was born on Feb. 19,1949, in Chattanooga and grew up in Red Bank. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.
Fred was a 1967 graduate of Baylor School, where he excelled in baseball, football and wrestling. Fred was the South Wrestling Champion 1966-1967 and won second place in National Prep Wrestling Tournament 1966 and was named an All Mid-South Football Player in 1967. While at Baylor, he often spent his Saturdays serving detention, which often resulted from his absence from school on Mondays.
He worked in construction for many years before becoming a realtor in order to flip homes.
Fred’s greatest love was watching his two sons practice and play baseball and football. He never missed a practice or game. He coached his sons in baseball and umpired at Red Bank. Fred served as the Booster Club President for Red Bank High School and ran the concession stand with dedicated workers every week. After his sons were finished with sports, he enjoyed fishing at our little place on Linger Lake, square dancing and watching the 11/12 year old Baseball World Series.
He was the family humorist, easily making everyone laugh. The highlight of Christmas were the games, mostly made by him, that the family enjoyed immensely with great and not so great prizes.
Fred was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Boots McNamara, sister, Tere and brother, Walter.
His family left behind are wife of 58 years, Judy; sons, Fred (Kandy), Brent (Kim) McNamara; grandchildren, Danielle (Jacob) Matthews, Blake (Hailey) Price, Katie (Byron) Hill, Madison (Christyan) Scarborough, Jake and Abby McNamara; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Matthews; great-grandson, Avery Hill; brother, Craig McNamara and sisters-in-law, Nancy McNamara and Diane Eaves and several nieces and nephews.
