Just two days after starting Southern Conference action, the Chattanooga Mocs softball team is headed to Cookeville for a non-conference matchup against Tennessee Tech Tuesday evening.

Chattanooga went 2-1 over the weekend against league foe UNC Greensboro, sweeping the Saturday games and falling in the Sunday matchup to open Southern Conference play.
UTC is 21-9 overall and will play four straight road games beginning at the Golden Eagles. The Mocs are hitting .303 with 77 multi-base hits including 23 home runs, 46 doubles and eight triples. They have 154 runs scored compared to 113 by their opponents. Camryn Cernuto leads the team with a .383 batting average with 10 RBI and 24 runs scored. Olivia Lipari is hitting .349 with a team-high 10 doubles and has four home runs including a two-run shot on Sunday. Acelynn Sellers and Presley Williamson lead the team with seven home runs each. Williamson has a team-best 28 RBI and Sellers has 24.
The Mocs pitching staff has a 3.21 ERA and a .227 opponent batting average. Peja Goold leads the team with a 176 ERA. She is 12-4 in 19 appearances with 11 complete games and five shutouts. She ranks fourth in the nation for shutouts with five, fifth for complete games (11), 10th in strikeouts (118) 18th for hits allowed per seven innings (4.14) and 12th in victories (12). Taylor Long is 6-0 and has a 3.10 ERA with 75 strikeouts in 61 innings.
The Golden Eagles are hitting .269 as a team after the offensive assault this weekend. Tech has 119 runs scored with 96 RBI with 50 extra-base hits – 40 doubles, five triples and five home runs – while also stealing 42 bases on 51 attempts. Abby Shoulders leads the team in average with .372, while stealing a team-best 16 bases and scoring 20 times. Sydney Kirby (.301) has a team-best 17 RBI and 11 doubles, while Ashley Capelouto (.318), Olivia Evans (.310), Makayli Harris (.327), Abbee Klinefielter (.306) are all batting above .300 on the season.
In the circle, Tech has a 3.84 ERA, walking 103 and striking out 124 with opponents hitting .313. Emily (3.02 ERA) has a 4-5 record with 16 walks and 36 strikeouts.
