Monteagle Meal Prep and Catering announces the establishment’s transition to full-scale fine dining effective immediately. The new focus on upscale, fresh food fine dining is accompanied by a new name – Mountain Top Restaurant & Catering.
Officials said, "The restaurant’s new focus from catering, meal prep and Clean Eat Café that first began in 2018 in Manchester, Tn., then in Monteagle, Tn. in 2020 is as much a testament to owner Danny Lyons’ vision to build hope through recovery, good food and community involvement as finding culinary talent from friends and family with Big Apple culinary experience to entice to the mountain.
"The new restaurant is staffed from many Long Island, NY friends and family, all with New York City restaurant expertise under their belt as chefs, servers or maître d’s as well as individuals he has met through involvement with local Christian recovery ministry.
"With only a few dining options available in Monteagle, Tn., outside of a few meat and three and sandwich restaurants, Mountain Top Restaurant & Catering is now one of only four full service fine dining restaurants focused on upscale dining that is in close proximity to Nashville and Chattanooga on the I-24 corridor and near to Sewanee, The University of the South.
"Open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, the soft toned restaurant features an array of global food options with influences from Lebanon, Greece, Italy, Germany and India. Food options include perfectly cooked wild caught Halibut topped with Beurre Blanc, to stuffed Chicken Marsala, stuffed with Goat Cheese and Prosciutto topped with a creamy Marsala wine sauce and mushrooms sourced locally from Midway Mushrooms, a gourmet mushroom farm located in Sewanee. Other options include Lamb Burger, or a popular Mountain Top Jam Burger, Lamb Chops, Filet Mignon and tender Pork Chop topped with Blackberry Dijon and Crumbled Goat Cheese. A full selection of salads, pastas and starters are available as well as a few dedicated vegetarian dishes."
Chef Lyons said, “This restaurant is unique, not so much because of the great people that I have been fortunate to source and train who are incredibly talented in their own right. Like Rosie, who successfully owned an incredible German restaurant for years, or my chef, Dustin Fisher, a hard fighting former marine that has worked in the culinary field for the last seven years, but because we are using our talent with food to also provide outreach to people in recovery and for the homeless in Chattanooga. Even how I was able to find this location was God-sent. We are not only bringing eclectic dining experiences, but we are helping to build hope through recovery, even if it is in a passing conversation where we are connecting people to services they need.”
The restaurant is open for brunch on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with menu items like Crème Brulé French Toast, Burrata Avocado Toast and Poached Egg Caesar.
Lunch is served Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. with a selection of sandwiches and wraps served with either Grilled Potato Salad or Parmesan Truffle Fries. Four freshly prepared salads and a soup of the day as well as burger options and entrees of Shrimp and Grits, Chicken Piccata or Coconut Curry Salmon are also available on a menu that evolves with the season and availability of fresh vegetables and locally sourced meat from Rattlestone Farm, eggs and dairy.
Mountain Top’s dinner service is from 5-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A full-service bar complete with wine, beer and specially crafted cocktails will be operational by late March.
Chef Lyons adds, “And for all who are wondering, yes, we will still have sushi on Wednesdays for lunch on occasion. We are excited to share that even with the change to full dining, we will continue to integrate cooking classes throughout the year that will pair food and wine from around the world.”
