Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga will host their annual ‘Women Build’ Brunch on April 25 at the Chattanoogan Hotel from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Donna Williams, former executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga, will serve as chair, and Nicole Brown will emcee the program.
This year’s fundraiser will mark a major milestone by supporting the construction of Habitat Chattanooga’s 30th Women Build home. Over the years, women-led volunteers and generous event sponsors have helped build or repair 29 homes through the Women Build program.
The 2025 Women Build event will honor LaQuanta, a mother of three and nurse who will eventually live in the new home with her children.
While fulfilling the rigorous requirements to become a homeowner through the Habitat Homeownership Program, LaQuanta also balanced the demands of parenting and her education. In November 2024, she passed her nursing board exams and began working in the Stroke Unit at Erlanger Hospital.
Event Chair Donna Williams said, “It’s an honor to not only lift up a woman so committed to her family as a mom and to her community as a nurse, but to also recognize and celebrate the other paths to homeownership Women Build has created.”
“This year’s event is a celebration of LaQuanta’s hard-earned path to homeownership for her and her 12-, 10-, and 7-year-old children. Her dedication to parenthood, education, and homeownership is awe-inspiring. LaQuanta’s level of perseverance is shared with our volunteers and sponsors, and that’s why we can celebrate 29 other stories like hers,” Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga President CEO Jens Christensen said.
