Lillie “Billie” Kirby Wright, age 74, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late George and Bertha Kirby and was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Steven Wright, daughter, Valerie Lauren Wright, and sister, Joyce Kirby Lowery.

Billie worked for the Foster Grandparent Program, a federal grant program administered by the City of Chattanooga, for ten years, serving as field supervisor and program director. She earned Community Service and Citizenship Awards within the Hamilton County service area. Previously she worked for Gearhiser, Peters Cavett, Elliott & Cannon for five years as office manager and bookkeeper. She attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and graduated from Covenant College in 2011 with a BS degree in Business Management. Billie served on the Student Alumni Board at UTC for several years as vice president. She served on the boards of Bethany Christian Services and Walter Boehm Birth Defects Center.

Billie is most proud of her involvement as a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House for more than 30 years, and her service on the Board of BBBS of Greater Chattanooga for 26 years, serving as president in 1993. She is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution/Judge David Campbell Chapter, where she served as Recording Secretary for one year.

Billie played tennis for many years and enjoyed traveling, running, and reading. Billie will be most remembered by her love for God and for her family.

She and her husband, Louis, were married for 52 years. They had three daughters, Julie Wright, Christy (Sam) Bryden, and Valerie Lauren Wright (deceased). They had four grandchildren: Savannah, Luke, Islay and Sybil. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Sherri Wright, of Chattanooga, TN, and her precious dog (Alfie).

Billie is also survived by two sisters, Geraldine (Ken) Cardwell of Dayton, TN, Glenda (Efrain) Torres of Hernando, FL, and a brother, Allen Kirby of Brewton, AL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn., with Dr. Chuck Starks and Pastor Josh Cardwell officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens – Garden of the Nativity with Mike Junkins, Mark Junkins, Larry Tucker, Blake Rose, Spencer Camp, and Doug Smith serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at the church.
