Robert Lee Atchley
Robert Lee Atchley, 86, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Atchley was retired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 34 years of service having served as captain the last 11 years of his career.
He was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church but was attending Terra Vista Baptist Church at the time of his passing and had served as a deacon and was instrumental in the building of the church. He gave his heart to the Lord at an early age and served the Lord all of his life.
He served with the Army National Guard for nine years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Marie Atchley; sister, Frances Gualandri; and brothers, Bennie (Billy) Atchley Jr. and Charles Atchley.
Mr. Atchley is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Myra Lee Nelson Atchley; three children, Robert Scott (Terri) Atchley, Nashville, Shelia (Larry) Taylor, Chattanooga, and Kelle (Steve) Smith, Ringgold; five grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Duvall, Hunter (Haley) Taylor, Taylor Cox, Sydney (Stanton) Fields, and Paxton Smith; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Lee Duvall and Ellington Taylor; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 7, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Curtis Rucks officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Hunter Taylor, Paxton Smith, Taylor Cox, Stanton Fields, Mike Duvall, and Denny Smith serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 12-2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
