William Michael “Mike” Clay, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born on Dec. 5, 1949, in Miami, Mike was the son of the late William Thurman Clay and Mary Evelyn Linville Clay. A devoted family man, he shared 50 wonderful years with his wife, Jane Hennessee Clay.

Mike was a proud and loving father to Rachel Clay Johnson and her husband, Jermey, Mary Catherine Clay PhD, and Jonathan Michael Clay. He found immense joy in his granddaughter, Cadee Campbell.

He is also survived by his dear sister, Patricia Mayfield, as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, Mike served honorably in Germany. He was a faithful member of Silverdale Baptist Church and a man of quiet strength and steadfast faith, and unfailing kindness.

Mike had a wide range of interests that reflected his curious mind and skillful hands. He found peace in gardening, creativity in woodworking, fascination in beekeeping, and in flying model aircraft. Above all, he loved nothing more than simply spending time with his family, sharing stories, offering guidance, and making memories that will be treasured forever.

There will be no public services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital.
