A free gardening workshop will take place on Monday, Aug. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the South Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4605 Redlands Dr. Allan Kennedy, who has been gardening since age five and has operated a 14-acre commercial blackberry farm, will present information on how to grow high nutrient dense food, with large yields and limited garden space. Our children are addicted to their cell phones. I don’t blame the kids, I would be the same way, probably worse. The Bradley County Schools have a new cell phone policy: ban the cell, bell to bell. If you’re in class, no cell phone. Hamilton County Schools should follow the courageous lead of our sister city. The Chattanooga Lookouts fell to the Knoxville Smokies for the fourth consecutive game on Friday night, this time by a score of 8-1. In the top of the second the Smokies strung together four singles off of Lookouts starter Todd Willeman for a 3-0 lead. Jay Allen II answered for the Lookouts in the bottom of the inning with a solo blast.
