The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Guild's annual fundraising event presents Musical Shenanigans featuring the CSO Orchestra and Robert
Bernhardt, conductor on Saturday, April 5, at the Chattanooga Convention & Trade Center.
It will star Tom and Dick - The Smothers Brothers Show with special guest The Yo Yo Man and Michael Preddy, music director.
Officials said, "The evening is full of shenanigans, surprises, an auction, and loads of fun beginning with a CSO Youth Orchestra performance, followed by the Choo Choo Kids, caricatures of guests by a local artist, and a specially created dinner representing funny anecdotes of The Smothers Brothers that has become synonymous with the word shenanigans."
Musical Shenanigans is chaired by Pat and Tim Ford who said, "We are very excited to be part of an organization that brings wonderful music to our city, superb entertainment, and now a performance with The Smothers Brothers."
Reservations can be made through the
CSO office call 267-8583.
Time has been an essential ingredient in the Smothers Brothers' success. They have been considered ahead of their time, masters of timing and practitioners of timeless comedy. Now as they mark over 44 years in show business, the Smothers Brothers are being saluted as time-honored legends whose lengthy career has surpassed all other comedy teams in history.
Over four decades of audiences have seen the Smothers Brothers in their own primetime comedy series, guest appearances on numerous television programs, countless engagements as headliners in Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe, a hot-selling video, 12 top-selling albums, as well as continuous coast concert tours including many with symphony rchestras.
On the personal side, both Tom and Dick pursue their interests with the same fervor as their work. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, whether at home or on the road, Dick can be found cycling, practicing yoga, or maintaining a disciplined regimen of robust workouts. Equally at home in the kitchen, Dick is known to conjure up delicious heart healthy cuisine. Tom's pastime passion is for golf, which is no surprise to the millions of viewers who have followed him through the various pro-am tournaments he plays each year. Ever inventive, he decided the game needed an added feature; thus Tom vineyard and his award-winning winery, Remick Ridge.
Tom and Dick were born in New York City, graduated from Redondo Union High School, and attended San Jose State University where both have been awarded honorary doctorate degrees. Both are married and have children.
The Smothers Brothers have been described as one of the most successful teams in history, comedic treasures, comic geniuses, rare, original and peerless.
The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera 2002-2003 season has two remaining concerts: The Gatlin Brothers, April 12 and Carmina Burana, May 1 and 2.
