Ooltewah, CCS Win Lady Charger Soccer Invitational

In the finals of the Gold bracket the host Lady Chargers of Chattanooga Christian scored a goal with less than five minutes left in the game to earn a 1-0 win over Donelson Christian Academy. In the Blue bracket final, Ooltewah defeated Science Hill 5-3.

In the CCS/DCA game, both teams battled for opportunities for 75 minutes until CCS final scored when Emily Waters took a free kick just outside the eighteen. The hard driving pass was flicked by a leaping Heather Trimiew who changed the direction of the ball just enough to find the net.

Ooltewah got a quick 2-0 lead against a strong Science Hill team scoring on two breakaways one by Jessica Creech and other by Jessie Watson.

Science Hill then scored three straight goals to take a 3-2 lead at the half.

Then in the second half, Creech scored two more goals and Watson got one to take a 5-2 lead.

Kate Hundley was credited with outstanding play in the goal and recorded 10 saves. Sarah Carrico, Sara Veal, Katie Patterson, Brooke Rogers, and Tara O'Roark anchored the Lady Owls defense.

Creech and Watson also had two assists and Brittany Rogers recorded one.

In semifinal action Saturday at the Chattanooga Christian soccer invitational, DCA defeated Maryville 7-1 and CCS defeated Tullahoma in a shootout.

The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and CCS won the shootout 4-2 with goals by Krista Blair, Emily Waters, Brittany Lee and Heather Trimiew. Brittany Lee scored CCS's goal in regulation.

In the Blue bracket Science Hill defeated McMinn County 4-0 and Ooltewah defeated Kingston 3-0.

Ooltewah will play Science Hill in the other final at 7:00 p.m.

In consolation games Saturday, Cookeville defeated Franklin County 3-0. Red Bank defeated Tennessee High in a shootout after playing to a 2-2 tie.

Knox Catholic also defeated Warren County 7-2 and Tullahoma defeated Maryville 7-1.

The Lady Trojans defeated Christian Academy of Knoxville 4-3 and Red Bank 4-1.

Hannah Johnson, Kelly Downs, Katie Mincy and Lindsay Spletzer all scored goals in the game against CAK. Downs assisted on two goals with Mincy and Spletzer assisting on one each.

In the Red Bank game, Bethany Derbyshire knocked the ball in the goal off a corner kick by Johnson. Spletzer scored assisted by Becky Mincy then Katie Mincy and Johnson each scored unassisted goals. Rachel Rushworth scored the goal for Red Bank.

Kingston defeated McMinn County 2-1. Brittany Shelton scored the Lady Cherokees goal with an assist by Holly Hicks.
