Alex Zegarra, M.D., 82, of Collegedale, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in a local hospital.
A native of Lima, Peru, he had been a resident of the United States since 1950, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1952. He was a member of Collegedale Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yolanda Zegarra; three brothers, Ted, George and Guillermo Zegarra; and one sister, Ruth Ciuffardi.
Survivors include his son, Stanley Zegarra and his wife, Rosa, Collegedale; sister, Sylvia Zegarra, Lima, Peru; brother, Richard Zegarra, M.D., Indianapolis, Ind.; granddaughter, Rachel Zegarra; and grandson, Alex Zegarra.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, in the Valley View Chapel with Pastor Ed Wright, Pastor Robert Zegarra and Pastor Manuel Mendizabal officiating.
Interment will be in Collegedale Memorial Park.
The body is at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist.
