Earl H. Ziegler Sr., 88, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at a local nursing home.
He was born in Burrville, TN, and graduated from high school as the valedictorian at the age of 16. He attended the University of Chattanooga for one year before marrying and starting a family.
He worked for Samuel Stamping and Enameling for 30 years as CFO. He then worked for Dalton Rock Products as secretary-treasurer, where he retired at age 72.
He was a member of Hill City Lodge and a 32nd-degree Mason. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Sue.
He is survived by his four sons, Earl H. Ziegler Jr., Ooltewah, Alan Ziegler, Riverside, CA, Tom Ziegler, Decatur, AL, and Joe Ziegler, Las Vegas, NE; brother, Dennis Ziegler, Chattanooga; sister, Jean Gross, Chattanooga; six grandchildren, Steve Ziegler, Debra McGhee, Michael Ziegler, Avery Ziegler, Zach Ziegler and Nancy Williams, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herschel Woodburn officiating.
Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
