Joseph "Yossell Ben Meir V’Zahava" Fine, 72, of Harrison, died on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at his home surrounded by devoted family and friends.

He was a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was born Feb. 25, 1934. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a longtime resident of Harrison. He was a member of Ochs Memorial Temple — Mizpah Congregation. He was co-founder of Tri-State Steel Drum Inc. in Graysville, Ga., and co-owner of Highway 71 Landscape Supply Co. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1957.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Meyer Mike Fine and Goldie Gruber Fine; grandson, Wesley Dillon Grant; and sister, Doris Fine Golub.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Lusk Fine, also of Harrison; daughter and husband, Valorie and Robert A. Cox, of Apison; son and wife, Allen and Becky House Fine, of East Brainerd; six grandchildren, Perri Elizabeth Fine, Colby Ryan Cox, David Michael Fine, Jessica Dillon Cox, Olivia Danielle Fine and Blakley Alexandra Fine; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, at Ochs Memorial Temple with Rabbi Joshua Lief officiating.

Visitation will be two hours before the service at the funeral home Friday. Burial will follow in Mizpah Cemetery with Robert Cox, Colby Cox, David Fine, Ken Teeter, Lowell Planzer and Tom Harris serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the David Laney Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1300 Republic Center, 633 Chestnut St., Chattanooga, TN 37450, Attention: Jim McKoon, trustee; Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416; Ochs Memorial Temple — Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund, 923 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403; or to a favorite charity.

Family and friends are invited to attend a reception given in celebration of Joe’s life at Fox Cay Restaurant at Island Cove Marina located at 6701 Highway 58 in Harrison immediately following the burial.

A heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga and Flora Strickland. A very special thank you to Ramona Flippin who took such good and loving care of our "Pops."
