John F. Evans, Trustee of The University of the South, will deliver an address during the Polk Family Reunion at Rippavilla Plantation in Spring Hill, Tn, on Friday, May 25.
The evening's topic will be "St. John's Episcopal Church and the Leonidas Polk Pilgrimage." The Polk Family Reunion is hosted by the James K. Polk Ancestral Home in Columbia, Tennessee.

The Rt. Rev. Leonidas Polk consecrated St.
John's in Ashwood, Tennessee, while he was the first Bishop of Louisiana. Subsequent to his founding The University of the South and locating it in Sewanee, Tennessee, he served as a general in the Confederate States Army and fought in battles at Belmont, Shiloh, Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Resaca. He was killed by the enemy's artillery during the battle on Pine Mountain, Georgia. He is buried within Christ Church Cathedral in the Garden District of New Orleans.
