A Catoosa County woman has been charged with murder in connection with the June 29 fire that killed her husband.
Teresa L. Kohnle, 34, was arrested in connection with the blaze at 3386 Boynton Dr. that took the life of James Kohnle.
Ms. Kohnle is charged with one count of felony murder and one count of arson in the first degree, Sheriff Phil Summers said.
He said, "A joint investigation, involving the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office, led to the arrest of the victim’s wife in this case.
"The investigation revealed that accelerant was used to set the fire which damaged the residence of Boynton Drive and caused the death of James Kohnle."
He said he could not release specific details because the investigation is still ongoing.
He said, "However, the investigation did reveal that evidence was found that links Teresa Kohnle directly to the fire which occurred June 29 on Boynton Drive."
The sheriff said, "This investigation will continue to seek additional information which will assist law enforcement in prosecuting the suspect in the death case."
The suspect is currently being held in the Catoosa County Detention Center and no bond has been set.
Sheriff Summers said he "credits diligent work by the detectives in this case for the successful investigation which led to the arrest of Teresa L. Kohnle."
Mr. Kohnle was a Dalton chiropractor.
