Ronald “Big Boy” Blevins
Ronald “Big Boy” Blevins, 57, of Soddy-Daisy died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at his residence.
“A soldier died today.” He was an Army Vietnam veteran and was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 203. He earned his degree from Edmonson College and worked many years at East Chattanooga Lumber and Supply Company. He was employed several years as a manager at Krystal and McDonalds restaurants. Ronald was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Blevins and Edna Dye Blevins; and sister, Carla Wallin.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Blevins of Soddy-Daisy; son, Terry Blevins of Soddy-Daisy; daughters, Amanda Essex of Soddy-Daisy; Mary Lou Hobbs of Fort Campbell, Ky. and Emmy Lou Blevins of Ardmore, Okla.; brothers, Mike Holloway of Chattanooga and Tim Holloway of Rossville; sisters, Jean Robinson of Chattanooga, Sharon Kay Enos of East Ridge and Robin Blevins of Cloudland, Ga.; grandchildren, Kayla Phelps, Elizabeth Essex, Jennie Lynn Phelps Kalissa Luttrell and David Essex.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Don Kelley and Rev. Steve Howard officiating.
Interment will follow in May-Shipley Cemetery with full military honors.
Terry Blevins, Mike Holloway, Buddy Blevins, Buddy Blevins, Jr. Steve Rymer and Shane Leford will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
