Just Between Friends of Chattanooga, a children’s resale business, will celebrate its spring sale season with a ribbon-cutting on April 11. The event, which is being arranged by the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, will begin at 9 a.m. in the Camp Jordan Arena, located off Highway 415 on Camp Jordan Parkway.
Owner Nicole Wilfong said Just Between Friends provides a market for children’s outgrown items and toys.
"The families keep 70 percent of what their items sell for, minus a small fee,” Ms. Wilfong said. “We provide the location, the advertising and make their items available to thousands of local customers.”
Ms. Wilfong said she learned to be a bargain shopper as a child. “My grandmother would take me to garage sales, church rummage sales and going out of business sales,” she said. “She clipped coupons, sent for rebates and taught me how to get a great deal.”
Ms. Wilfong, who started selling on eBay in 1997, consigned with JBF of Tulsa for several years. She has also worked as a music buyer and clerk for a Christian bookstore.
Just Between Friends will be open April 13 from 12-7 p.m.; April 14 and 15 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; April 16, 17 and 18 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and April 19 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. New items will be available on April 16 and discounts between 30 percent and 50 percent will be offered April 18 and 19.
Just Between Friends offers three events a year. A “Back to School” sale will be held in July and another sale will take place in the fall.
“The sales are a great way to re-cycle, make a little money for your own family and also help out the community,” Ms. Wilfong said. “Many of our consignors choose to donate their unsold items to Bethel Bible Children’s Village.”
