Jawbones Vs. Sawbones Fundraiser Golf Tournament Set For June 20

  • Thursday, June 5, 2008

“Attorneys Are Out for Blood,” is the theme of the second annual Jawbones vs. Sawbones Golf Tournament set for Friday, June 20 at Canyon Ridge Club in Rising Fawn, Ga.

Event registration begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12 p.m., and closes with an award ceremony at Georgia Wines at 7 p.m. There are opportunities for 30 teams. One of the four players on each team must be a physician, attorney or dentist.

Jawbones vs. Sawbones is a friendly competition that began with attorneys and physicians about 15 years ago hosting a charity basketball game.

Jawbones vs. Sawbones was revitalized last year with a golf tournament through a partnership with Chattanooga Bar Association, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and Chattanooga Area Dental Society. During last year’s golf tourney, the physicians won.

This year’s theme “Attorneys are out for blood” highlights the rematch and the recent partnership with Blood Assurance to host a regional blood drive in conjunction with the golf tournament.

The regional blood drive runs from June 16-27. Visit any Blood Assurance location to donate blood. All locations are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (except at Erlanger).

Proceeds from this year’s Jawbones vs. Sawbones Golf Tournament will benefit the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, one of the cornerstone programs of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Funds will also support the National Leadership Youth Forum on Medicine, a program designated by the Chattanooga Hamilton County Medical Society, which encourages young people to pursue careers in medicine.

The event sponsors are: Merrill Lynch- Robert Pippenger, CFP, Brody's Jewelers, Porsche of Chattanooga, Canyon Ridge Club, Henry Schein, Georgia Wines, Jason's Deli and Comcast.
