Coahulla Creek High School Opening Fall 2011

  • Monday, November 2, 2009

The new Whitfield County high school will open in fall 2011 as Coahulla Creek High School.

Whitfield County school board members announced the name for the new building during their regular monthly meeting on Monday afternoon. They made their decision after reviewing more than 100 nominations from the community suggesting names for the school.

The Board of Education has welcomed community input since the high school project began. Members of the community were part of the team that designed the unique facility, which includes large flexible workspaces throughout the building to encourage innovation and collaboration among the students and staff.

Community members will also be invited to help redraw district lines to determine which students will move into the new facility in 2011. Those future students will choose the colors and mascot for Coahulla Creek High School.
