Maurice Wilson
Maurice Wilson, 93, a longtime resident of East Brainerd, died on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009.
Maurice was educated in the Chattanooga School System and graduated from McKenzie Business College. He accepted Christ at an early age at Concord Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for many years and met his wife of 67 years, Mary Alice Howell.
Maurice served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Major during World War II, and retired as manager of Wilson Certified Foods after 42 years of service.
His parents, A.J. and Lillie Mae Wilson; brother, A.C. Wilson; and sisters, Louise Norton and Velma Cowan preceded him in death.
Maurice’s impact of love, humor, and respect is felt by those who celebrate his life, especially his loving wife, Mary Alice; daughters, Judy Ellington, Jean (Joe) Smallwood, and Maurine (David) Ward; sister, Barbara Dooley; brother, Herman Wilson; sister-in-law, Alice Wilson and brother-in-law, James Dooley; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. David King officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 29, from 2-6 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel.
