Thomas Harold Sands, 77, died on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010.
Harold was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a faithful member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church and the Victors Sunday School Class. Harold was a member of Carpenters Local 74 and retired from C&I Construction in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Harold was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Edwin Sands; parents, Oscar and Ida Sands; brother, Lennis Sands.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sands; daughter, Beth (Tony) Gossett, of Hixson; three sons, Steve (Vickie) Sands, of Las Vegas, N.M., Harrell Alan Sands, of Clovis, N.M., Chris Sands, of Dublin, Va.; sister, Florence (John) Kenner, of Hixson; two brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Sands, Bruce (Barbara) Sands, both of Falling Water; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Great-granddaughter, Paige Collins, was a gift from God in his life. Blake Welch was a special young man who gave Papa much pleasure.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the funeral home chapel on Ashland Terrace with the Rev. Randy Bell and Dr. Al Goss officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Pallbearers are Elmos Benefield, Don Clift, Gary Miller, George Blake, Don Oldham and Alan Bazzell.
Visitation will be from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace.
