UTC Graduate Launches Online Shoe Store

  • Wednesday, February 15, 2012

A former UTC student will launch a brand new online shoe store in Georgia. Tia Tappan, creator of Shoe Game Mean, said the Atlanta-based, online shoe store will launch at midnight on March 1. The store offers unique and affordable shoes and accessories rarely found anywhere else.

Though shoes are the main product, Shoe Game Mean also offers a selection of handbags and jewelry. The store will expand to sell men’s wear in the summer.

“I’m pretty pumped about the launch,” Ms. Tappan, 26, said. “I’m especially looking forward to working with event planners at non-profit organizations in Chattanooga for fundraising events, like the Chattanooga Shoe Shoe.”

Originally from Memphis, Ms. Tappan is the current marketing director for the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, the first person to hold this position. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor’s degree in English & American Language and Literature, and a minor in Communication.

During her time in Chattanooga, she worked for several local companies and participated in events, including WTCI PBS; Waterhouse Public Relations; the Young Women’s Leadership Academy Foundation of which she is the former development and marketing coordinator; the Tennessee Craniofacial Center for Palette 2 Palate, in which she volunteered as the Youth Gallery coordinator; and a contributing writer for Chattanooga Parent Magazine, for which she wrote for three consecutive years.

Ms. Tappan was also a member of the Young Professionals Association of Chattanooga and the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga Young Professionals where she served on the executive board.

One can visit the store by visiting www.shoegamemean.com. Become a fan of the store on Facebook.com/shoegamemean and follow the store on Twitter.com/shoegamemean for details and announcements on upcoming sales and events.
