Lookouts Take Game One At Mississippi, 4-1

PEARL, MS-The Chattanooga Lookouts plated three runs in the top of the second to defeat the Mississippi Braves 4-1 in game one of a five-game series at Trustmark Park Tuesday night. The series resumes Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

Chattanooga (3-3, 35-39) scored four runs on eight hits while the M-Braves (2-4, 32-44) scored just one run on five hits. Keenan Wiley and Todd Cunningham combined for four of the Braves' five hits.

Pedro Baez launched a three-run home run in the top of the second to give the Lookouts a quick 3-0 lead. J.T. Wise had walked and Luis Nunez doubled to reach base before Baez's fourth blast of the season.

Wise reached on a ground-rule double in the third and Nunez followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Baez then grounded out, allowing Wise to score and extend Chattanooga's lead to 4-0.

Andrew Wilson walked to start the third. Wiley then doubled to drive in Wilson and cut the Lookouts lead to 4-1.

Allen Webster (3-7) worked seven innings for the Lookouts, limiting the M-Braves to one earned run on four hits and three walks. He struck out five batters.

Logan Bawcom (S, 8) came on to work the final inning and record his eighth save of the season. He walked one batter.

Luis Avilan (2-6) started but was pulled after just two innings of work. He gave up three earned runs on five hits, two walks, a homer, and two strikeouts.

Right-hander Gary Moran (2-6, 3.16) takes on righty Zach Lee (0-0, 0.00) in game two of this five-game series at Trustmark Park. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
