Bryan College will dedicate its newly renovated Rudd Auditorium with “Music of the Americas,” a concert featuring pianist Si-Hsing Tsai on Friday.

Dr. Tsai, UC Foundation associate professor of music at UTC, will perform works by American and Argentinian composers, “a tribute to my current and former countries of residence, the United States and Argentina,” she said.

Rudd Auditorium, an 850-seat performance and assembly venue, underwent the first major renovation in its 36-year history this summer. New lighting, floor coverings and a sound system were installed, and seating was refurbished. “Not only is this facility more aesthetically pleasing, but also much functionality has been improved as well,” Bryan President Dr. Stephen Livesay said.

Dr. Tsai is a native of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, studied at the Conservatorio Nacional in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California. She has received the Performance Award from Jeunesses Musicales Competition, two gold medals from the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica, the Performance Award from the 21st International Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival and was the Outstanding D.M.A. Graduate from the University of Southern California.

She has performed in solo recitals and concertos in Argentena, Germany, the United States and China, and has taught master classes in China and Korea.

Her concert Friday will include works by American composers Aaron Copland, Edward MacDowell and Robert Muczynski and Argentinian composers Carlos Guastavino and Alberto Ginastera.

The concert in Rudd Auditorium begins at 7:30 and admission is free.
