Mary Thatcher Seay, 66, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, left this world on October 17, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Nov. 22, 1946, to Eugene Fusz and Florence Warfield Curry Thatcher. She earned a BA from University of Kentucky and on June 12, 1971, and married Edward Allen Seay of Lexington, Ky.

Mary is survived by Edward and their three children, William Allen (Melissa) Seay of Germantown, Tn., Courtney Thatcher Seay and Heather Seay (Andrew) Pinion of Signal Mountain, and grandchildren, Caitlyn Pinion, Isabel and Charlotte Seay, and Sophie Jackson.  Her surviving siblings are Jane Hickenlooper of St. Louis and Peter Thatcher of Neavitt, Md.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Charlotte (Lolly), Margaret (Wee Pie), Becky, and Charlie.

Mary was an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a librarian in the Hamilton County School system, most recently at Signal Mountain Middle School.  She was an avid walker, hiker, and tennis player.  Mary was loved by all who knew her and will be remembered most for her selfless, joyous spirit and as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.  Mary put everyone else before herself and will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Mary to the American Cancer Society at the http://donate.cancer.org site.

There will be a memorial mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, with a reception following at noon, at St. Augustine Church on Signal Mountain.
