Worked In The Nursing Field For 47 Years

Carol Ann Sharp, 68, of Hixson, Tennessee and Dodge City, Kansas, died on Saturday, August 3, 2013.  

Carol was born into the Catholic faith by Mr. and Mrs. Ray T. Patterson of Dodge City, KS.  She attended Sacred Heart School, St. Mary of the Plains College and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her registered nurse degree.  Carol worked in the nursing field for 47 years.

On Nov. 5, 1966, Carol married Air Force Senior Airman Don Sharp of Crossville, TN.  Together they traveled the world for 27 years.  They then settled in Hixson.  Their travels included stops in Kansas,  Japan, Hawaii, California, Texas, and Georgia.  They also had five children during those traveling years. 

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Julia Patterson and her son, Matthew Derek Sharp.  

Carol is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald Lee Sharp; one daughter, Teri Lynn (Kevin) of Cleveland, TN;  three sons, Donald Lee II of Hixson, Todd Michael (Becky) of Soddy Daisy, and Jeff (Kayleen) of Aiken, S.C.; two sisters, Rose Rita (Frank) Horton of Dodge City, Kansas and Edna (Dale) Ricker, of Hutchinson, KS;  two brothers, Thomas Patterson of Hixson and Donald (Norma) Patterson of Guymon, OK; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Carol was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church.  We will always cherish her memory as a loving, caring, and happy person to all who came into her life.  Her caring spirit was very evident to all around her.  She would always say “Yes” giving of her time and love.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace.  

The funeral mass will be held at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at St. Jude Catholic Church on Ashland Terrace with Father Charlie Burton officiating. Burial will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
