GPS coach Paul Brock has been saying all fall that his Bruiser volleyball team is the youngest and least experienced of any of his teams in recent memory and the results are reflecting that fact.
The Bruisers played three home matches against D-II foes on Saturday, beating Pope John Paul II by 3-0 while dropping a pair of 3-1 decisions against Father Ryan and Harpeth Hall.
GPS started the day with a win over the Lady Knights, winning by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 29-27.
Fortunes weren't as good in the next two as Father Ryan won by scores of 25-18, 25-18, 18-25 and 25-22 before Harpeth Hall prevailed by scores of 25-20, 25-22, 17-25 and 25-23.
Olivia Berger was the leader for GPS with 69 kills and 66 digs in the three matches. She also had nine blocks and six aces.
Kelby Crownover had 59 digs while Jenna Simpson had 40 assists and 25 digs. Caroline Vance had 56 digs whihle Gabby Hughes had 23 assists and 15 digs. Angela Bonds was credited with 28 digs and 19 kills.
GPS will be at home again on Wednesday when they host the Signal Mountain Lady Eagles.
