James Samuel Hope, 88, of Cleveland, TN, passed away on October 1, 2014.
He was born on May 5, 1926. He was of the Church of God faith and preached at various churches in the Sweetwater and Tellico area. He had been a resident of the Cleveland area for more than 45 years. James loved to fish, mowing his yard, playing music, singing, and going to church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary S. Hope; mother and step-father, Jim and Willie Smith; two sisters; and three brothers.
He is survived by four children, Barbara Blackwell (Terry), Frenda Sims, Darlene Paddgett (Kenny), Jeff Sims (Debbie); five grandchildren, Shane Thomson, Josh Blackwell, David Paddgett, Stacy Higdon and David Sims; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Defriece and Wilma Kaylor (Clyde); and several other relatives.
The family will have a graveside service at McInturff Cemetery on Saturday, October 4, at 5:30 p.m. with Bro. Guinn Green officiating.
The family will receive friends at Companion Funeral Home from 4-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
