Marion Elaine Liendecker, 96, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1928, in Mountain Lake, Mn., and grew up in Houston, Mn. Marion’s life was a testament to love, music, and faith.

On Feb. 14, 1953, Marion married the love of her life, Edgar M. (Eddie) Liendecker. Their love story began at the Empire State Building in New York City, where they both worked. Together, they built a life filled with adventure, living in New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina before settling in Hixson, Tennessee in 1971. One of their favorite things to do was attending barbershop quartet conventions around the country. They also enjoyed visiting their hometowns of Houston, MN and Lyons Falls, NY. Eddie was an Army Air Corps veteran and reservist and passed away in 2000.

Marion had a lifelong passion for music and was an accomplished singer and pianist. She shared her gifts as a choir member and pianist for various churches, most recently at Middle Valley Baptist Church in Hixson, where she was a member. She played the piano for the Wednesday morning Senior Adult Bible Study.

Marion’s nickname was Eema, which was given to her by her grandson Kevin. A glimpse of her unique personality occurred when she first started attending Middle Valley Baptist Church. One of the young men in the church was going to give her a hug and she told him “I’m not a hugger”.

Marion was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvena and Edwin Wilcox; her husband Eddie and son Eric. She was the last surviving of nine siblings: brothers Robert (Bernice) and Paul (Elsie) Wilcox; sisters Jean (James) Graves, Ruth (Jay) Summers, Helen (Arthur) Houge, Margery (John) Hanson, Shirley (Beryl) Lee, and Patricia (Roger) Wahl.

She is survived by her loving children: Jan Liendecker (Bruce), Karen Baltzell (David), and Randy Liendecker (Sharon); her grandchildren: Claire Baltzell Defee (Tiffany), Jason Broomhall, Kristina Tucker (Charles), and Kevin Liendecker (Nicole); and her great-grandchildren: Blake Bridgman, Stella Tucker, and Ava and Teegan Liendecker along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Marion’s kindness, talent, and unwavering faith will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Monday, June 16, at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Matt Lotspeich and Dr. Robert Mounts officiating. She will be interred following the service with her husband at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Middle Valley Baptist Church, 7901 Middle Valley Road, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
