Gary Skiles
Gary Wayne Skiles, 51, of Rossville, died on Saturday, November 15, 2014.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran having served during Desert Shield/Desert Storm and was a member of the VFW Post #3679. He loved being outdoors, gardening, playing darts and loved putting up lights and decorations for his favorite holiday, Christmas. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Skiles and granddaughter, McKenzie Skiles.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia Skiles; his loving wife, Pam Skiles; seven children, Gary "Scooter" Skiles, Jr., Brandon Skiles, Rashell Skiles Marmet, AprilSkiles, Angela Qualls, Jennifer Ownby and Melinda Newby; two brothers and sister-in-law, Billy J. Skiles of Fort Oglethorpe, and Michael and (Becky) Skiles of Chattanooga; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and (Jerome) Raines of Tunnel Hill; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends at VFW Post #3679.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will begin receiving friends after 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
