Rodney Ray Davis, 74, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 in a local hospital.

He was a member of Spring Creek Church of God and the Auditorium Sunday School Class. Rodney was retired from the Chattanooga Fire Department as a Lieutenant and first responder. Rodney served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Karen Davis; father, Billy Ray Davis; children, Brian Davis of Chattanooga, Mandy (Nick) Basham of Austin, TX, Jennie (Scott) Phillips of Bakewell, TN, Sheila Bame of McDonald, TN and Dexter (Hannah) Davis of Apison, TN; 12 grandchildren, Sebastian, Moses, Job, Temperance, Savannah, Lazarus, Boaz, Jedidiah, Maranatha, Enoch, Alethia and Ruth; beloved dog, Dixie Belle.

Rodney was a classic car enthusiast. He was a loving husband and enjoyed spending time doing anything and everything with his wife, Karen. He especially loved working on cars with his sons. He enjoyed spending time with his father and taking him on trips to his home place in West Virginia. Rodney adored his daughters and was always available when they called him. His most precious joy was his grandchildren. He always filled their pockets with candy and spoiled them rotten.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m.– 12 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 8214 East Brainerd Road with Pastor Bennie Mills officiating.

Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson.
