Dancing City Park Ranger Said He Was Fired After Out-Of-Towner Complained

  • Wednesday, June 18, 2014

A Coolidge Park employee, known as the "Dancing Park Ranger," said he was fired after an out-of-towner complained that she was offended by his dance.

Daryl Nelson, 51, said he was dismissed by the city for "conduct unbecoming a city employee."

He said it was apparently based on a complaint by a woman who brought a Girl Scout troop to the park.

Mr. Nelson was in the news last year when he heard the cries of a woman who had fallen into the river and then rescued her.
