Walter Brent Penrod, 72, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Penrod was born in Mineral, OH on August 11, 1942, to the late William Penrod, Jr. and Ethel Bodkins Penrod. He was a member of the Harrell Street Church of God and was an avid fisherman. Prior to retirement, Mr. Penrod was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills in the Planer Mill, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Penrod was preceded in death by his brothers, Melven Penrod and Austin Raymond Penrod; sisters, Kathryn White, Marie Penrod and Rebecca Penrod.
Mr. Penrod is survived by his wife, Jeanette Penrod; daughter, Angie Penrod; stepson, John Ramey; honorary son, Mickey Barnette; step-daughter, Tammy Jackson; sister, Ruth Gambill; grandchildren, Kensey Alexander, Howard Jeffries, Jr. and Brianna Ramey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Penrod will be held Saturday, July 11, at 1 p.m. in the Harrell Street Church of God with Rev. Denny Smith and Rev. Jeff Shaver officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Jackson, J.R. Kennett, Barry Tanner, Danny Hester, Doug Gill and Dewayne Tinney. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his lady friends from the Trion Wal-Mart.
Mr. Penrod will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday, July 10 from 6-8 p.m.
On Saturday, Mr. Penrod will be carried to the Harrell Street Church of God, and will lie in state from noon until the funeral hour.
