Brandon Arnold
A Bounty Hunter Bloods member has been arrested after he allegedly stole a car and got into a protracted struggle with a police officer whose gun he attempted to take during the altercation.
Brandon Arnold, 23, was found when an officer responded to a report of a potentially stolen Ford Fusion sitting in a grass lot in the 3400 block of Through Street.
When the officer identified the vehicle as the one reported stolen, he saw it begin to accelerate through a driveway and yard before ramming into the rear of his vehicle.
He reported that he then got out of his car because he thought he was going to be rammed again. At this point, the officer saw a black male fleeing from the vehicle on foot and gave chase.
He tased the suspect who dropped a large bag of marijuana, but the officer also saw the Ford Fusion accelerate in an attempt to flee.
While he was giving the last known direction of travel for that vehicle, the suspect he had already tased forced his way to his feet and began to fight him. The officer said he attempted a reverse takedown causing both of them to fall.
The officer said the suspect then rolled off and attempted to run away, but he managed to grab him. Still fighting, the officer saw that the suspect was attempting to grab his firearm.
Finally the suspect pushed the officer away and began running again, but he tripped and fell to the ground. The officer said he landed his knee on the suspect’s face causing him to go temporarily limp before he was finally detained.
The arrest report says that the suspect is Arnold who is a validated member of the Bounty Hunter Bloods.
Arnold is charged with theft over $10,000, two counts of aggravated assault on police, evading arrest, and possession of marijuana for resale.
