John Harold Stancil, 84, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in an area health care facility.
John was born to the late Lee Albert Stancil; and Mamie Miller Stancil on Oct. 24, 1931, in Blount County, Al. Mr. Stancil served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Post office after 28 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara Goza Stancil; sons, John Lee Stancil of Red Bank and David (Buffi) Stancil of Crossville; daughters, Brenda Edwards of Red Bank and Sandra (Jim) Weathers of Cloudland; grandchildren, Chris (Mandy) Edwards and Jennifer (Josh) Gilbert; great-granddaughters, Emma, Indigo, Aurora and Amethyst; sister, Betty Green; brother, Earl Stancil; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Atwood officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Ricky Bentley, Chris Edwards, Josh Gilbert, Roger Johnson, Roger Kennard, and Jim Weathers serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
