James I. Painter Jr. ("Toby"), 56, of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia, died on Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his father, James I. Painter Sr. ("Jimmy").
Toby was a lifelong resident of Ft. Oglethorpe. He worked at Lowes Building Supply. He graduated from Rossville High School in 1977. He was active in the PRA association and coached his sons there. He loved spending time with his family, playing golf, being outdoors and "Alabama Football". He was the kind of man you not only wanted to be around, but you wanted to be more like! He was loved by all who knew him and he will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon; sons, Taylor, Shane and wife Stephanie and Trae and wife Lacey of Rossville; grandson, Whit of Chattanooga; mother, Elizabeth Painter of Ft. Oglethorpe; and brothers, Danny Painter of Ringgold, Ronnie Painter of Harrison and Eddie Painter of Rossville.
Services will be held at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 9.
The family will receive visitors at 2 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 4 p.m. in the Chapel.
