Rep. Graves Praises House Leadership Selection Of Ryan, Collins

  • Tuesday, November 15, 2016

Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) issued the following statement today after House Republicans voted on leadership positions for the 115th Congress:

Next Congress we will have a unified Republican government for the first time since 2007. It’s time to deliver results for the American people. That’s why I fully support the leadership team that was elected by the House Republican Conference today. I’m thrilled that a North Georgian, Rep. Doug Collins, will be part of that leadership team as Conference Vice Chairman. He will be a strong voice for Georgia and the entire Southeast at the leadership table.

“I was also proud to support Rep. Paul Ryan for the Republican nomination for Speaker of the House. He was nominated for the job by Rep. Mick Mulvaney, a prominent member of the Freedom Caucus, and seconded by Rep. Chris Collins, one of President-elect Trump’s earliest and strongest supporters, and won the nomination unanimously.

“Speaker Ryan has worked tirelessly to unify House Republicans behind a bold conservative agenda for America. He barnstormed the country and succeeded in maintaining a strong House Majority. Speaker Ryan kept his promise to decentralize power and return it to individual House members. He also worked closely with the Georgia delegation to protect our water rights. That’s why I look forward to supporting our Republican Nominee for Speaker in the January election against the Democratic Nominee.

“With the Trump-Pence-Ryan team leading the way, we will do great things for our country. Our strong, unified Republican government will hit the ground running and quickly produce the results the American people demanded on November 8.”
