Bobcats Give Back To Local Charity

  • Wednesday, November 22, 2017

The Georgia Northwestern Bobcat Athletic Department dropped their largest-ever food donation to the Care Mission of LaFayette on Wednesday. Care Mission Director Deon Phillips accepted the delivery from Basketball Coach and Athletic Director David Stephenson and Lady Bobcat basketball player Christina DeSalvo.

The food was collected at the Rossville Athletic Center during the Food Drive Games, held by the school's basketball teams. Georgia Northwestern has been a supporter of the Care Mission for nearly a decade.

Mr. Stephenson said Mr. Phillips was "extremely grateful" for the donations, but wanted the public to know that the summer, when kids were out of school, was the time when the facility needed donations the most.

"We started athletics at the school nearly 12 years ago to give local kids a chance to play," Mr. Stephenson said. "This is an opportunity for these local kids to give back to the local community that has supported them from day one."
