Rep. Patsy Hazlewood, a steadfast champion for Tennessee community and technical colleges, received a special recognition from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Chattanooga State on Thursday in the Center for Business, Industry and Health (CBIH) on the main campus of Chattanooga State Community College.
Along with the entire Hamilton County legislative delegation and all members of the General Assembly, Rep. Hazlewood was instrumental in helping to secure a $9 million appropriation to benefit the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology. The TCAT at Chattanooga State is one of the beneficiaries of this state appropriation receiving $485,000 of those funds to upgrade welding equipment in Chattanooga, Dayton, and Kimball.
As the honoree for Chattanooga State’s sixth annual Dinner of Firsts, she helped raise more than $70,000 for Chattanooga State’s First in the Family Scholarship. Earlier this year, Rep. Hazlewood was chosen as one of 48 state leaders from across the country to participate in the Henry Toll Fellowship, the nation’s premier leadership development program for state government officials.
