Nellie Leona Dooley Dotson, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018, at the family residence.

She was the daughter of the late H.E. “Jack” and Leona McConnell Dooley and was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Dotson, her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Calvin Herron, and her sister, Doris Crane.

Mrs. Dotson worked in retail most of her life retiring from Walmart. She was a long-time devoted member of Philippi Baptist Church where she was very active. She was a loving mother to Kathy Ruth and adored her four great-granddaughters.

Nellie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jim Ruth, her grandchildren, Jamie Rebecca Cortes and her husband, Shannon, Matthew Keith Ruth, her great-granddaughters, Morgan Kaela Ruth and Willow Moon Cortes, Violet Sky Cortes and Neko Aurora Cortes, her brother, Jack Dooley and his wife Sue, and her brother-in-law, Bob Crane, along with several nieces and nephews and her best friend, Tommie Jean Davis.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. at Philippi Baptist Church with Pastor Sammy Hooker officiating.

The committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Darrell Bottoms, John Earls, Gary Lynn, Don Bird, Doug Bird and Hoyle Johnson serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m. at the church. Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
