Chickamauga Man Charged With Stealing $10,000 Truck, Taking It To Be Scrapped In Chattanooga For $128

A Chickamauga, Ga., man has been charged with stealing a truck in Walker County, then taking it to be scrapped in Chattanooga.

The Chevy truck was valued at $10,000. Michael Anthony Puryear was paid $128 for the vehicle.

Puryear, 36, of 268 Lail Road, Chickamauga, is charged with theft over $10,000.

Police were notified by management at Baxwin's Metals, 2189 Broad St., that when the company submitted the required paperwork to the state it was found it was a stolen vehicle.

The truck had been stolen on March 14 when the owner left it running and unattended.
