The Chattanooga Mocs completed the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in ninth with 14-under 838. That’s the fourth-best total in school history and lowest number shot outside Chattanooga.
Senior Will Porter tied for 12th shooting a career-low 206. The 7 under total was finished with 3-under 68 today. The 68 led the Mocs 287 final tally with Oliver Simonsen (72), Moritz Lammel (73) and Matt Smith (74) contributing.
Smith and Simonsen also shot under par with 211 (-2). That tied for 31st.
Lammel was next on the team scoreboard with 222 followed by California native Connor Nolan at 224.
Porter’s 206 is three better than his 209 finishing third at last year’s Memphis Intercollegiate team victory with the two scores matching vs. par (-7). It ties for eight-best total in program history.
Pepperdine ran away with the team title at 809. That was 16 ahead of host Cal (825) and 17 clear of St. Mary’s (826). The Waves swept with Sahith Theegala capturing medalist honors at 197 (-16).
The Mocs have a few weeks off before returning to the Grandover Collegiate. They tackle the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., for 54 holes over Oct. 27-28.
