U.S. Marine Veteran Retired From General Motors And Was Enthusiastic Choir Member

John Wesley Wells, 79, passed into eternity early Monday morning, November 18, 2019.  

Known as “Jack” to family and friends, he was born in San Diego, Ca., to James P. Wells and Mary Giles Wells. Upon completing high school and college, Jack served in the United States Marine Corps. He then became employed by General Motors Corporation as their youngest auditor nationwide. During the 18 years he was with General Motors, Jack completed his B.S. degree in business and finance, rising to management within the company. He also worked in indirect lending for the Florida banking industry for a number of years until his illness and retirement.  

Jack was a committed Christian and Elder of Boca Raton Community Church and later, he was an Elder of Christ Community Church in Pompano Beach, Fl. He was an enthusiastic choir member, and even took a year of professional vocal training.  Jack was part of a quartet, a duet member, as well as a soloist over the years. He was a dedicated husband for 50 years to his life partner, Bette Evans Wells, who later became his caregiver. Jack was also a very proud father to their daughter, Karis Evans Wells. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bette Evans Wells; daughter, Karis Evans Wells and siblings, Brenda (George) Arthun, James (Terry) Wells, Sam (Cyndi) Wells, Rick (Susan) Wells, and Hazel (Michael) Whitaker.

There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery, where Jack will be laid to rest with military honors. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
