The Chattanooga women’s basketball team will play the first of its next three road games Sunday afternoon at Eastern Kentucky. The Mocs and Colonels have met just twice with UTC hosting each matchup. EKU beat the Mocs in the 1982 AIAW Southern Region Tournament in Maclellan Gym. In 2006, Chattanooga came away with the win in the Mocs’ Courtyard Classic at the Roundhouse.
The Mocs are 1-7 overall and shooting 31.9 percent from the field, 26.8 percent from distance and lead the Southern Conference at the free throw line making 72 percent of their attempts.
Lakelyn Bouldin leads the team with 12.3 points per game and a team-best 14 3-pointers. She is third in the league for free throw shooting, making 82.8 percent of her shots. She is third for rebounding (4.3) and has 11 assists and seven steals. Eboni Williams has a team-best 10 steals and leads the Mocs with 5.9 rebounds per game. She is second in scoring with 9.3 points per game and has 13 assists and five blocked shots. Abbey Cornelius is third in scoring (9.0) and second in rebounding (5.0) to go along with eight steals.
The Colonels are 4-2 overall with a 102-65 win over Alice Lloyd in their last outing. EKU beat SoCon foe Mercer 61-60 in overtime and have wins over Northern Kentucky and Memphis. They are averaging 65.5 points and 41.3 rebounds per game. EKU is shooting 39.2 percent from the field, 30.8 from the arc and 66.7 from the charity stripe.
Bria Bass leads the Colonels with 11.2 points per game and averages 6.8 rebounds. I’Liyah Green leads the team on the boards with 7.3 per game. Samari Mowbray is second on the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game with 10 from range.
