CBL Properties on Thursday announced that Bluegrass Hospitality Group will build and open Malone’s in the parking lot of the former Sears building at Hamilton Place in Chattanooga, Tennessee, as part of the property’s ongoing redevelopment.
“We are excited that Bluegrass Hospitality Group will be bringing Malone’s, an upscale, new-to-market restaurant known for high quality dining and outstanding service to the Hamilton Place complex,” said Stephen Lebovitz, chief executive officer of CBL Properties. “With the overall Sears redevelopment, our vision of transforming our properties into suburban town centers is literally coming to life. We are adding quality dining, entertainment, in demand retail, a hotel and other uses that solidify Hamilton Place’s long-term position as the dominant destination in its market.”
BHG opened the first Malone’s location in 1998, and has opened two additional locations since, all three in Lexington, Kentucky. A fourth location is scheduled to open in Louisville, Kentucky in late 2020. Malone’s sister brand, Drake’s, also owned by BHG is located near Hamilton Place in the Village at Waterside.
Hamilton Place’s Sears redevelopment project began in 2018 with the addition of The Cheesecake Factory. Construction on DICK’S Sporting Goods and Dave & Busters is well underway with anticipated opening dates in spring 2020. Vision Hospitality began construction on a 135-room Aloft by Marriott Hotel in fall 2019 with an anticipated opening date in early 2021. The state-of-the-art Box self-storage facility is under construction across the ring road from the Sears project with an opening projected for spring 2020. Additional uses to be included in the project will be announced at a future date.
