Nancy Guillory Bennett, 78, a resident of Benton, originally from Opelousas, La., passed away peacefully on December 5, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a member of St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. (which was built in 1798), and had a great love for her family and an extreme devotion to her dearly departed husband. Nancy had a strong love for her Cajun heritage, and was very educated and informed regarding such. She adored the old plantation life, had a great love and adoration for her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Bennett was born on Jan, 19, 1941 in VillePlatte, La. to the late Ray B. and Lillian Manual Guillory. She was an advanced architect, and amazed everyone with her fantastic art work as an artist.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Mr. Clifton Cole Bennett; her parents, Ray and Lillian Guillory; grandson, Christopher Bennett; and brother, Challon Guillory.
Survivors include her beloved children, Kimberly (Dan) Peters, Bridgette (Timothy “Smitty”) Smith and Clifton Trey Bennett, III; loving granddaughter and beloved caregiver, Ashton Huffaker; adored grandchildren, David (Whitney) Couch, Brennan Huffaker, Kali Bennett, Megan Bennett and Daniel Lanclos, Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy Deshotel and Ann Guillory; great aunt, Ruth Zerangue; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life graveside service for Mr. and Mrs. Clifton and Nancy Bennett will be conducted at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.
