Greater Chattanooga Realtors Partner With Habitat For Humanity

  • Wednesday, June 19, 2019

Since 2014, Greater Chattanooga Realtors has been committed to an ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga to build homes and give back to the community.

As part of Greater Chattanooga Realtor’s partnership with Habitat, the organization assists with new construction builds and neighborhood projects and annually contributes $5,000 to sponsor truck wraps for Habitat’s ReStore trucks.  Greater Chattanooga Realtor members are provided with marketing pieces from Habitat to encourage their clients to utilize the non-profit as a resource. Everything from cabinets to furnishings that many new or former homeowners may not have room for as they transition from one home to another are put to use by Habitat’s ReStore.

Greater Chattanooga Realtor also holds the biennial fundraiser, Tee Up & Wine Down for Habitat. The fundraiser, which is set to return in 2020, directly benefits Habitat’s work in the community.

“No one knows a community better than a realtor,” said Dominique Brandt, development director for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga. “We share an important philosophy of knowing the importance and stability a home can make.  Greater Chattanooga Realtors’ continuing commitment and active partnership with Habitat allows us to continue our mission of building homes, communities and hope for so many.”

This month, Greater Chattanooga Realtor members dedicated two weekends to physically assist in the construction of new homes for local families. Because families who are selected for Habitat homes are required to volunteer time on Habitat projects, volunteers get to know the future homeowners and their stories, which in turn, connects them on a more personal level.

“Habitat believes in homeownership just like realtors do,” said Jay Young, Greater Chattanooga Realtors’ Community Involvement Committee chair. “Our association raises money and participates in these builds because that’s who we are.”

“Habitat is such an important part of our community,” said Kim Bass, 2019 president of the Greater Chattanooga Realtors.  “As realtors, homeownership is part of our DNA. We work hard to find the best fits for our clients and appreciate all Habitat does to find the best fit for theirs. We believe our partnership with Habitat makes the community we both serve a better place and knowing we’re helping Habitat meet specific needs to fulfill their mission is inspiring to all of us.”
