A former Ooltewah High School teacher is facing charges after he admitted he tried to "hook up" with a female student at a Walmart bathroom.

Chandler Joseph Morris, 24, was charged with two counts of solicitation of a minor.

He was suspended from his job, then he resigned.

Police were summoned to the school on Aug. 20 at 8 a.m. after the girl reported that the teacher initiated a conversation with her via Snapchat. She said the conversations took place four days earlier during school hours.

She said she was solicited for sex in the conversations.

The girl said she advised Morris she was a minor, and he replied, "Yeah, that's fine."

He also said he was "okay with going the child predator route" and wanted to meet her in the Walmart bathroom during lunch break.

Police said Morris admitted to wanting to meet the girl in the bathroom.

Authorities obtained Morris' cellphone through a court order. It was found that the girl had sent photos to him and asked if he had deleted them. Two of those images, that were said to be sexual in nature, were found on the phone.
