Local Elementary, Middle School Students To Compete In Robotics Challenge Saturday At Volkswagen Chattanooga

Volkswagen Chattanooga will host the VEX IQ challenge this Saturday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at 8001 Volkswagen Dr.  This competition brings together 38 teams of students from area elementary and middle schools.

The event is organized by Tennessee Valley Robotics. Awards from this event qualify students for state and regional championships. 
 
Local schools participating are: CSLA, Howard Connect Academy, Lookout Valley, Tommie F. Brown, Loftis and Signal Mountain.

In addition to Hamilton County teams, other schools participating are from Knoxville, Flintstone and Strawberry Plains.
 
Agenda: 
9 a.m. – opening remarks: Tom du Plessis (VW), Kris Edmondson (TVA), Elizabeth Hammitt (EPB) and Bryan Johnson (HCDE)
9:20 a.m. – program begins: driver skills, autonomous programming, judging sessions
11 a.m. – lunch
12:15 p.m. – matches
3 p.m. – final matches
4 p.m. –  awards
