Cempa Community Care announced Tuesday that Michael Davis, MD, has joined its team of healthcare providers.
Dr. Davis, who completed his undergraduate education at Berry College and medical school training at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine, joins Cempa after spending the last few years as a hospitalist at Erlanger Health System. He’s already familiar with Cempa since he served as an infectious disease consultant for the organization between 2015 and 2016.
“Since I completed my medical education, I’ve been involved in the treatment of infectious diseases both locally and across the world,” Dr.
Davis says. “I’m delighted to be able to focus my attention on the community here in Chattanooga and furthering the mission of Cempa.”
Along with working locally in the Chattanooga area, Dr. Davis’ medical journey has taken him to hospitals across the southeast, as well as a two-year stint at Tenwek Mission Hospital in Bomet, Kenya. His efforts and expertise in infectious disease have been acknowledged across the world, as he has given lectures internationally on topics ranging from Ebola to HIV care.
“We are delighted to have someone of Dr. Davis’ caliber joining our team of medical providers,” says Shannon Stephenson, CEO of Cempa Community Care. “His experience in providing care for patients both here at home and internationally will be invaluable as we seek to continue to grow our footprint and provide exceptional care to patients in our region.”
